Compute you don't have to trust
Cypherware exists to make cryptography programmable: to turn the mathematics of privacy and proof into engines that ordinary software can build on.
Mission
Today, using someone else's computer means trusting them with your data and taking their results on faith. We think that's a temporary condition of computing, not a permanent one. Encrypted compute removes the need to trust machines with plaintext; verifiable compute removes the need to trust their answers. Our mission is to make both fast enough, and simple enough, that they become the default.
Why now
Programmable cryptography spent decades as beautiful theory with impractical constants. That's over. Bootstrapping that took seconds now takes, in Torq, under a millisecond on a laptop. Proving systems improve by orders of magnitude every couple of years. Meanwhile the demand side has arrived: blockchains need confidentiality, regulated industries need to compute on data they cannot pool, and AI needs a trust story stronger than a terms-of-service page. The technology and the need are meeting right now, and the teams that industrialize this layer will define it.
How we work
We're research-driven and product-shipped: every line of research points at an engine someone can actually run. We write our core systems in Rust, we benchmark on the hardware people actually own, and we treat performance claims as things to be measured, not marketed.
